Ozark Trail Bikes

Ozark Trail bikes are Walmart’s own line, first launched in 2023. They run from a 12 in balance bike to 29 in full-suspension trail bikes and Class 1 electric gravel bikes. Every listing gives a rider height range, so start with your height, then pick the kind of riding.

Ozark Trail bike size by height

Pick your height to see every Ozark Trail bike and frame size Walmart lists for it. If you sit on the line between two sizes, short legs or a short torso point to the smaller frame.

Height ranges are copied from Walmart listing titles. Sizes marked 6 ft 2 in+ or 6 ft 3 in+ are the largest frame made.

Every Ozark Trail bike, side by side

The letter is the riding style, the number is the step up within it, and a plus sign means a motor. Walmart does not publish the code meanings; this is how the names read across the lineup.

Are Ozark Trail bikes good?

For the money, owners and reviewers say yes, with one condition: the bike has to be set up right. The same three points come up across every model.

What owners likeReal parts for the price. The newer models use modern standards, such as tapered head tubes, thru-axles and Boost spacing, so they are easy to upgrade.
What to checkStore assembly. Owners and Mountain Bike Action found loose stems, loose headsets, a barely tight quick release and badly adjusted derailleurs on store-built bikes.
What gets upgraded firstMechanical brakes. They are the part owners replace most on the G.1, FS.2 and original Ridge. Hydraulic models like the Ridge Pro and FS.3 draw far fewer complaints.

Ozark Trail bike first-ride check

Whether it came built from the store or in a box, run through this before the first real ride. It takes about 20 minutes with the tools in the box and a pump.

  1. Stem and bars

Hold the front wheel between your knees and twist the bars. If they turn on their own, tighten the stem bolts evenly.

  2. Headset

Squeeze the front brake and rock the bike. A knock at the front means the headset needs adjusting.

  3. Wheels

Check each wheel sits fully in its dropouts and the quick release or thru-axle is properly closed. Spin it and watch for wobble or rotor rub.

  4. Brakes

Each lever should stop well short of the bar. Bed in new pads with a dozen firm stops from walking pace.

  5. Gears

Shift through every gear on a stand or upside down. Skipping or noise usually needs a quarter turn of the barrel adjuster.

  6. Tires and fork

Pump the tires to the pressure on the sidewall. On air forks, set the pressure for your weight from the chart on the fork leg.

Based on the store-built bike problems reported by Mountain Bike Action (August 2024) and owners in r/Budgetbikeriders and r/cycling.

What Ozark Trail bike owners say

One G.1 Explorer owner listed the faults they see on store-built bikes, from wrong headset preload to wheels not seated in the dropouts, and suggests asking for a boxed bike and building it yourself.

Cloud668 on r/cycling, July 2024

A 6 ft 3 in owner on a large Ridge Pro found clean welds and a fork set nearly right out of the box, then swapped the 34T chainring for a 30T to make climbs easier.

Gobbelcoque on r/MTB, March 2026

A 6 ft 4 in rider says the large FS.2 Slalom fits fine and took about 45 minutes to build from the mostly assembled box.

Ozark Trail bike questions

Buying

Who makes Ozark Trail bikes?

Ozark Trail is a Walmart private brand, and outside manufacturers build the bikes. Kent International sells the 24 in Ozark Trail Vibe on its own site with its own frame warranty, so at least some models come from Kent.

When did Ozark Trail start making bikes?

Walmart announced its first Ozark Trail mountain bikes on March 30, 2023. The name had been on Walmart’s camping gear for decades before that.

Do Ozark Trail bikes come assembled?

Bikes on the store floor are built by Walmart. Bikes ordered online arrive mostly assembled in a box, usually needing the bars, front wheel, pedals and seat fitted. Either way, run the first-ride check above.

Are there Ozark Trail electric bikes?

Yes. The Rebel+ gravel bike and the M.2 Ridge+ mountain bike are Class 1 mid-drives with pedal assist to 20 mph, and the M.3 Ranger+ is an electric fat tire bike. See the electric bike page.

Fit and limits

What size Ozark Trail bike do I need?

Use the height chart above. It lists every frame size Walmart gives a rider range for. A 5 ft 6 in rider, for example, fits a small 27.5 in or a medium Ridge Pro.

What is the weight limit on Ozark Trail bikes?

It changes by model. Reports put the FS.2 Slalom and original Ridge at 300 lb, the G.1 Explorer and 24 in Vibe at 250 lb, and the G.2 Rebel and FS.3 Fastflow at 220 lb. Check the limit on your listing before you buy.

Can I return an Ozark Trail bike?

Walmart takes most bikes back within 90 days. Electric bikes have a shorter 30 day window.
