Ozark Trail Mountain Bike
Every Ozark Trail mountain bike is either a hardtail, with suspension only up front, or full suspension, with a shock under the seat as well. The hardtails are the Ridge, Ridge Pro, Vibe and Timber; the full-suspension bikes are the FS.2 Slalom, FS.3 Fastflow and FS.5 Fireline MX, all on 29 in wheels.

Hardtail or full suspension?
Pick by the trails near you, not the spec sheet. A hardtail is lighter and simpler; full suspension is kinder on roots and rocks.

What to know before riding hard
Three things owners and reviewers keep pointing out about the Ozark Trail mountain bikes.
What Ozark Trail mountain bike owners say
An owner of both full-suspension bikes says an FS.2 plus upgrades is better value if you will upgrade anyway, while the FS.3 suits someone who wants to ride it as it comes.
Jack-87 on r/Budgetbikeriders, September 2025A 265 lb rider found the FS.2’s brakes too weak and the fork close to bottoming, and returned it after two rides. Commenters noted he was near the limits of the stock setup.
Additional_Hippo_294 on r/mountainbiking, August 2025One owner rebuilt an FS.2 piece by piece, with hydraulic brakes, a dropper, an air shock and a new fork and wheels, and is happy with the result.

Choosing
Is the Ozark Trail mountain bike good for real trails?
The newer models, yes. Mountain Bike Action called the FS.3 a genuinely rideable, upgradeable full-suspension bike, and found the Ridge climbs well. Expect to tune the build and, on cheaper models, the brakes.
What is the best Ozark Trail mountain bike?
For a hardtail, owners point to the M.2 Ridge Pro for its air fork, dropper and hydraulic brakes. For full suspension, the FS.3 Fastflow comes ready to ride, and the FS.2 Slalom is the cheaper base to upgrade.
Is the FS.3 sold in stores?
No. Mountain Bike Action reports it is sold online only, shipped to your door.
Limits and parts
What is the weight limit on the FS.2 Slalom?
300 lb, as Walmart lists it. The FS.3 Fastflow is lower at 220 lb.
Can I upgrade an Ozark Trail mountain bike?
Yes, and many owners do. Tapered head tubes, Boost spacing and dropper routing on the newer frames take standard parts. Start with brakes, tires and contact points.
Can I jump an Ozark Trail mountain bike?
Check the riding category in your manual before you try. Mountain Bike Action found the FS.3’s fork labeled for leisure cross-country riding, and the 24 in Vibe manual rules out jumps. The DJ.1 Airtime is the Ozark Trail bike built for jumping.
